This item is made of plastic. It melts where you put out your cigarette. Not too much, but definitely shouldn't melt. That makes it a fire hazard. So if you need to smoke somewhere else then this is not a worthwhile purchase. Disappointed. **Update** So I used this ashtray until I found a better one and my lights were already out and I received this item on the 17th. It flickered when I received it. And what was even more disappointing, the lid started to close with difficulty. Like having to force it shut and it sounds like it will break every time you close it. Please do not buy this junk to use as an ashtray. The vent plugs also don't work on my machine. They only work with ventilation slots that run horizontally
