Just what the doctor ordered. I already have earth shoes and my running doctor friend told me that the arthritis in my knee would go away with these minimalist running shoes. I didn't believe it. You might feel barefoot and flex your toes in other earthy boots, but these truly feel barefoot. It took her quite a while to get used to the feel of something between her toes. It's similar to walking on wet sand, like on the beach. I feel almost everything. So you can squeeze the sole on the stone. But that's what I wanted. Enough protection to avoid cuts. They dry quickly when they get wet. I walk on the beach, on a gravel/dirt road and sometimes on rocks/dry coral. They don't smell yet. I always soak them in salt water. I west 11/wide and 45 was perfect for gloves. I chose grey/black so they don't look too silly, but I still get a good-natured laugh. I only laugh with them. works for me
