I bought this for my 2011 Ford Escape because the check engine light stayed on due to an evaporator problem. I've read that a capless gas cap is a common Ford problem. The item was easy to install, just like you think, plug it in and turn the key. Requiring a key to fill out is a little annoying. I always worry that my kids will lose the key which is small. I also had to put a rubber gasket on the inside of the lid to make it close better. I just used old bicycle rubber inner tubes. I am pleased to report that my check engine light has gone out. In general I am satisfied with the purchase.
