I applied because I never want another louvered ceiling fan again!

I'll never install a conventional blade fan again! This installation was easy before and of course after installing the fan. It was a fairly simple setup: black wire to black, white wire to white, green ground to green; easy. Two questions: 1) Do you want to paint the ceiling after removing the old fan (I didn't wait for the paint to dry) 2) After reading previous reviews I decided to use wire to hold the fan hanging while I attached the electrical wiring. Use "helper wire" to hold the fan, use good wire nuts to tie the electrical wires together (I stripped the wires on the fan wires a bit to help the wire nuts hold better), then screw and secure Attach at least one side of the fan assembly to the plate before removing the "auxiliary cable" (see photos). Aside from removing the old fan and painting the ceiling, it took 25 minutes. Minor issues aside, I live in the lightning capital of North America and we get afternoon thunderstorms in the summer. I wonder how this fan withstands power surges? My house has been struck by lightning twice and in the past I have had to replace two separate LED lights. Power surges usually take the path of least resistance and this light/fan assembly has a vulnerable circuit board. Overall this is a gem of a fan and facility; worth the risk of a surge, plus that's why we have home insurance. It's very light, only 18 inches. I particularly like the fan remote control and the dimmer. The fan is much quieter than my former Blade fan.
