This book from 1989 is pure Santa Claus. From the introduction with a well-presented discussion of the mythical figure's evolution through history and religion, to the current icon with hilarious laughter, there's nothing in this book like Santa Claus. And that's not bad if you want Santa's book. However, all images are large format portraits and paintings. There are no decorations, stockings or themes reminiscent of Santa Claus. No vintage jewelry, toys or family scenes. On the other hand, each painting is beautiful, becomes a family heirloom, and is historically accurate for a specific period. Next to each figurine is a photo and a brief description that you would be happy to attach to the finished design if gifting it.
