Made of durable metal and plastic. It looks like it can handle a lot of movement and adjustment. that is a good thing. Here is my problem and there is only one. The base isn't big enough to support the weight of the iPad. It holds tight when the iPad is directly over the flat stand, but if you twist your hand left or right the whole thing falls off. I was glad he didn't break my iPad. It's a design issue. I recommend finding a stand where the post is in the middle of the larger base.
