I really wanted this trackball to blow my mind. It gets an extra star for being the only trackball in its category with a scroll wheel. Elecom is moving in the right direction with this, but it still needs some work. Pros: - It's not a thumb trackball - It has at least 2 extra buttons for navigation! - It has a scroll wheel! A truly rare sight for thumbless trackballs. It has real prospects if Elecom decides to adjust its design. Cons: It's all too small to be ergonomic and I don't even have big hands. The ball is simply too small and a lot of accuracy is lost as a result. Sometimes the ball control is quite bad, the reason for this can be a black sheen. I've read that this is a common problem with Elecom trackballs and I would recommend them going to black, maybe with polka dots or patterns like the Logitech Marble or the Microsoft Explorer. Despite the ruby bearings, there is more friction when the ball is moving. more than any other plastic bearing trackball I've tried - Buttons: - Does the right click confuse me? It's a flimsy button, not very comfortable, not the worst, but I just don't see why it has to be like that. - Left click is hard to press. It works best at the top, but it's not comfortable there either. Using the back button as a left click (which you can remap with the included software) is actually easier for me. - The fact that the back/forward wheel and scroll wheel are farther away than the left click makes it quite awkward to flex your thumb to achieve all of these things without adjusting the entire palm. The thumb area should be built in and it should be where your thumb rests naturally, I don't have to rotate my thumb to reach the button. - Scroll wheel tilt is completely useless, very hard to press (and would be almost useless if it didn't, no one uses the tilt features), and tilting up is virtually impossible without lifting the mouse. - The middle click of the scroll wheel is also quite hard to press, a very tight button partly due to: - The scroll wheel itself is too thin, feels cheap and flimsy, probably one of the worst scroll wheels I've ever used. This is also an unfavorable direction for thumb rotation. Take a look at the Logitech MX Master thumbwheel to see how the thumbwheel should work. Overall, the thumb area is my biggest gripe with this mouse. It's just not well thought out and not comfortable and causes fatigue with prolonged use. The thumb area needs to be tilted to allow gravity to help me do some of the work by pressing the keys, instead I have to press sideways. Not very convenient for gaming or long press. I've spent a few times in Adobe Illustrator and sometimes had to resort to the Marble Mouse because I found it more convenient to constantly click and drag. And with Fallout 4, I had to switch back to my Marble because DT2 lacked the accuracy I needed. - The screws to open the mouse are located under the rubber bumpers and the information sticker.
