This is a simple but effective kit. This is definitely a good set to start with and especially as a gift, although it may not be suitable for more advanced users. There are 8 candle jars in the set and I love that there are instructions and warnings at the bottom of each jar. It also included two wick holders, or centerers, which are great for pouring two candles at a time. Centering baskets can be removed once the candle has hardened somewhat. The small crucible that comes with the kit cannot be used directly on the burner, but works well as a steaming method when placed in a pot of boiling water. The spoon is long enough to stir the wax and ensure it melts completely, and the spout or nozzle hole on the crucible pours decently. The kit contains four packets of beeswax instead of soy wax, and each packet must weigh 120 grams. . Mine weighed 17.56 ounces in my pocket, which is correct as 120 grams is just under 17 ounces. The amount of wax is really enough to make 8 candles in 8 jars. The jars are colorful and reseal well, but they are smaller and hold about 2 ounces of candle each. The supplied wicks are quite long and coated. I don't know what their ratings are. Since the candle jars aren't very wide or tall, one wick works well, although I used two anyway as I use mine for citronella candles in the spring. However, the stickers that come with it are not very good. They're easy to peel, move, and stick to everything but the candle tin. It's not a bad kit overall, even though it's only $30. It's easy and would make a great gift, but probably not for advanced candle making. The beeswax pellets weigh between 16 and 17 ounces, which is quite a lot of beeswax to start with, and it's completely odorless. I especially liked that there are no dyes or essential oils in the kit. It's safer for pets. And of course there are 8 candle jars, so the individual components have value. It is definitely fun to make candles with the children, to give them as gifts or to spend a handicraft evening with your spouse or family.
