This dock has finally saved me the trouble of constantly plugging and unplugging 7 cables/dongles on my personal and work laptops as I often switch between two computers change . The COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown forces me to work from home during the day and then I want to plug in my personal laptop at night and on weekends. I wanted to buy a newer ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock since my ThinkPad T470s has a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, but I got repeated warnings that the Thunderbolt 3 controller stopped working and couldn't connect to devices, and the technical Lenovo support was unable to resolve the issue. This dock supports data transfer rates up to 10Gbps, while the Thunderbolt 3 dock supports 40Gbps. I'm fine with the performance, I can't say I'm missing anything. So back to those 7 cables/fobs, namely: power, USB fob for external keyboard and mouse, gigabit ethernet, two attached external monitors. to two HDMI ports, USB-A for wireless headset, USB-A cable for wireless headset charging station (which charges the headset when not in use). I went from 7 cords/fobs to 1. All I have to do is plug the USB-C cable from the docking station into the USB-C port on my laptop. What really surprised me is that it also powers the laptop and no separate power cord is needed. I wasn't expecting this as my laptop uses a special cable with a yellow square connector and not USB-C. I've also experimented with a USB-C to USA-A adapter to connect the dock to a traditional USB-A port. When I do that, the laptop doesn't get power, but everything else works. This is documented on the product sheet that accompanies the box.
