Probably the best hiking shoe I've ever had and I've had many. I have chronic Achilles tendonitis and have had bouts of plantar fasciitis for many years. I also have bursitis on both big toes, high arches and narrow heels. I wear gel toe braces which relieve spasms from misaligned toes and the toe box in these shoes is perfect for them. I usually wear an 8 in regular shoes but always wear an 8.5 in trainers. I bought regular 8.5 and they came up to this size. The removable Orthaheel insole has a nice high arch and low heel with a slight arch at the ball of the foot. With every walk they become more comfortable. I usually walk 3 miles for an hour every morning. I used to have severe Achilles tendon pain and numbness in the balls of my feet. I haven't had any issues in either area as long as I run in these shoes. When I take them off the pain returns, but I have bought full length and 3/4 length insoles for other shoes and wear them as long as possible. The only thing I wish they were brown or burgundy. I definitely recommend them. The company suggests walking in it for an hour for the first few days to get used to it before using it all day. I would say it's a good idea. I know they feel better with every walk.
