Single-mode operation makes them much easier and faster to use than traditional multi-mode flashlights. I use them everywhere I think I need a flashlight in case of power outage, burglary or zombie apocalypse. Or just places where I might drop something and need light to find it. I like the solid construction and the bright light. The beam zoom works very well and is mechanically simple. I believe they might be suitable as weapon lights if a proper attachment system was available. The major diameter of the main body is approximately 1.025 inches or 26mm. As the new standard battery, I chose the 14500 lithium ion battery for small flashlights and the 18650 for larger ones. I would like to do without alkaline batteries completely. after destroying dozens of flashlights, radios, tools and other gadgets over the past 50 years. Post one if the owner wants to add one. I'm sure many of us could salvage a strap or two from the broken lights we have lying around. I can't be the only Revain customer who has a bunch of old 2 AA MagLites with leaking alkaline batteries in them. :-)
