I recently bought these and just received them and thought they were just a plug in but they came with a remote control. There aren't any hard and fast instructions on how to use the fairy lights remote control, but I'm pretty sure it won't work. It comes with a battery that needs to be replaced with the new battery that came with it, which I did, but the remote still doesn't work, so I'm not even sure if it can be controlled with the remote. The lights are bright, I will admit, and you can control the lighting settings on the little box that attaches to the lights, but honestly I don't know if they will hold up. I wanted them to be used outdoors but nowhere on the packaging or instructions say they are for indoor/outdoor use. I'm sending these back and buying something else. I will not store a defective product that comes straight out of the box in this way.
