I'm not the type of person who gives 5 star reviews very often. I'm not sure I've ever had that. 5 stars means perfection (at least for me) and nothing is perfect. However, this is a BIG camera. It replaced my NEX5N that I had stolen while on vacation (yes all vacation shots are in camera). I was actually thinking about just buying a phone with a really good camera, but since the only lens that was on the camera (Tamron 18-200) was included when it was stolen, I still had 2 lenses and a spare battery and a wall charger And some of the phones I looked at were LARGER than the camera body, I decided to just replace the camera body. The reviews I've read and the samples I've seen of the a6000 have been amazing. I'm a bit of a hacker, newbie of course, just take a lot of pictures and occasionally come across a really good one, but this camera seemed pretty reliable to the idiots. I was blown away by the first test shots I took. Detail, colour, depth of field etc. was fantastic and I was in full auto mode. The lens I currently use is the original kit lens that came with the NEX5, 18-55mm. I had no idea how good this lens is. I also have a 30mm prime macro lens. Zoom focusing was much faster than the 5N but still fell short of my exceptions from what I've read about it having the fastest autofocus of any camera. There is a firmware update for this lens so I updated the firmware. Doesn't matter. Even at either end of this lens's focal length, it was almost instantaneous. Autofocus at 5N was quite often slow and blurry. Not so with the A6K. You almost don't know it's focusing, and it captures moving subjects to keep them crisp. Then we have the viewfinder. I will NEVER own a camera without a viewfinder again. I can't tell you how many photos I've lost over the years because I couldn't see the camera's display in bright sunlight and the blurry and often inaccurate autofocus meant I lost some potentially amazing photos. While the viewfinder isn't the best I've read, it's still excellent and 100% suitable for my purposes. Years. Apparently there will be a major update in the next year or so. I have no idea if that's true, but I don't care. The A6300 and 6500 have a few extra features and a better viewfinder, but to be honest, for someone like me who is NOT a professional photographer, I doubt there's even a remote chance I could outgrow this camera. I'm looking forward to replacing the stolen Tamron lens at some point, but at the same time the kit lens and main macro lens are quite enough. The 5N had 16 megapixels while the A6K had 24. This allows for some pretty serious image composition with less loss of detail. This is a great camera and I would recommend it to anyone, beginner or pro.
