Search "nvidia rtx 3090 error rate " - EVGA RTX cards are having problems

Update: March 11, 2021 This was a four star review - I can't believe this card died tonight. He died when I entered the room while playing Bioshock Remastered on Steam. I just started the game so there wasn't a crazy fight. The card fans turn up and the signal to the monitor is gone. I put my hand on the case and the card was radiating unreal heat. Full of bricks. I've never had a problem with EVGA cards, but after searching for a 3090 error rate, it looks like EVGA has serious problems. Stay away from any company given the price we pay for GPU stock shortages. who have problems with RTX cards. I understand that EVGA has great customer support and I really hope so because this is a major setback.______________________________ First of all, the performance of the EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 is very impressive. I get stable frame rates even in hectic scenes. In the four days I've been playing with it, there hasn't been a single noticeable crash with frame drops. I upgraded my RTX 2080 Super. Frame rates increased noticeably at a higher average frame rate. This results in a smoother gaming experience at maximum settings. When playing Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, the boost was 1440 in the 15-20+ range. I will also note that this card has a physical built in overclock switch set to normal. I haven't tested this. It's BIG and heavy. Before that there is no escape. The length and width are significant and I would really consider the case where you want to put this. That means your case needs to operate in low ambient temperatures and have enough space for airflow. It's three lanes and these fans have little to no need for obstacles. See attached images for comparison with RTX 2080 Super. Mid-sized cases with many components inside can cause ambient cooling issues. RTX: Real-time ray tracing and DLSSS Yes, RTX can have a really impressive impact when it's in use, but when it's enabled it's still very expensive. In Cyberpunk 2077 this consumes an average of 20 fps and to be honest the game already has impressive graphics, for me these extra frames are more suitable for real fights. DLSS 2.0 is a real technology worth writing about. This really offers impressive scaling that gives an impressive boost in performance. Lust for performance I'm using a 2 year old 1000W EVGA PSU with an OC processor, 32GB RAM, two hard drives, an SSD and an optical drive. This card has three 8-pin power connectors and therefore consumes a lot of power. It is not recommended to use a branched power cord (cable with two 8-pin plugs). I've now checked the official EVGA forums and modders have confirmed that newer PSUs of 800W or more are fine to use two 8-pin power connectors. cables instead of three. After reading reviews from people facing high temperatures, excessive fans, and framerate issues, I used three separate cables going to my PSU. I haven't encountered any problems. I'm running this on a water-cooled Corsair system in a large case that's very quiet, and I've yet to hear the 3090's fans running while gaming. If you're using a much older PSU and/or less than 800W then you should actually consider upgrading. What frame rate can you expect? Unless you're using a top-of-the-line Intel or AMD processor, your footage won't match what was posted on the Tech Review sites. My increase in framerate is due to my existing hardware, specifically the CPU. You can tell by the fact that I'm using a mid-range processor from two years ago. Overclocked Intel i7-7700K. So I won't hit those numbers until I've finished my AMD Ryzen 9 5900X based system. A Final Word Unless you're a content creator, this card is a bit over the top with performance boosts. I use editing apps that benefit from the architecture of the RTX 3090. Due to the sheer size and power requirements, I really don't see that in mid-range cases, especially if overclocking is the goal. Cooling can be an issue. A card like this really falls behind when paired with mid-range components. I'm seeing this on my build right now, so I create a new install around it. Because of this, I'd have a hard time recommending the 3090 solely for gaming when the RTX 3080 is likely a better choice for cost and performance. . The net gain here is minimal in comparison.
