First let me say that I like the head unit but my experience would be more beneficial if the manufacturer provided good documentation for the unit. There is customer service but they couldn't adequately answer any of my questions. I had to change the plastic for the air controls before I could properly install the unit in the dash, so it's not exactly a direct replacement, but it was a bit of a hassle. The next problem was changing the temperature from C to F, which turned out to be impossible as the main unit never changes the display, so it's a firmware issue. To make matters worse, the car dashboard display will be C and how you changed it before will be lost as you can only change the time. The car display also shows HELLO all the time, so the OEM radio must have something to do with it, as does the loss of the illuminated HVAC controls because the LEDs that illuminate them were part of the radio. The device really has a long range. of CANBUS settings to choose from, but none of them are 100% compatible with the 2008 Mazda 6. The resulting device will have steering wheel controls already configured and working. However, when you install a rear view camera, the head unit does not receive a feedback signal from CANBUS, so you need to cut the marked wire and physically connect 12V to the head unit with the camera reverse lock signal, and then to the camera. will work properly. I'm convinced that if the CANBUS configuration was correct, this wouldn't be a problem. The built-in microphone works well when not using a fan motor as it picks up too much noise from the air flowing through the vents. This is a problem in very hot or cold weather when the fan needs to run. I've played around with various external microphones, but so far it hasn't worked for me. This is an issue when connecting your phone via BT. If you connect your phone to a USB connection and use Easy Connection, this is not a problem if you have BT headphones. I don't really need my phone to be connected to the head unit as I can use the earpiece to take a call or watch, but it's nice to be able to connect it to the head unit. So if that's important to you then you'll do some work to figure things out and messing around with MIC GAIN doesn't really help, the factory setting of 4 works best. I didn't like USB cables flapping around. At first I threw them in the glove box and while it worked I wasn't happy with my decision. I ended up getting a flanged connection with 2 USB ports and installed it on the socket but too close to the socket which looks nice but doesn't have easy access to plug and unplug USB devices. If you do, install them to the left until the end because the problem is in the shift knob. It seems the BT capabilities are limited to your phone which got me really frustrated because I really wanted to use this main unit with my ODB II BT devices and not my phone. Is there a way to pair these devices to the head unit, I haven't figured it out yet. I only use them when traveling but when I'm at home I have a nice bi-directional tablet scan tool that I use so I don't have to use any BlueDriver or ELM BT devices. If you want to use that head unit as a GPS then you might want to look at the version that connects to the top glove box, not this one. The reason is safety, why look down and away from the road when you can see what you need from the top of the dash and keep your eyes on the road. I made this mistake and am thinking of getting a master unit that mounts on top of the dash glove box. I can then simply reconnect my OEM radio to restore the correct dashboard temperature reading and restore the backlight on the HVAC control knobs. So the reason for 3 stars and not 5 is the lack of good documentation and adequate customer support. As what it would be 5 stars because it's a good main unit but it would be nice to install it once and be done with it instead of pulling it out multiple times to first check for problems made by me and other times, to search it solve problems with the camera and microphone.
