I don't consider myself an experienced candle maker, but I've made about 100 candles since I started this hobby. They were all made with soy wax, so seeing that beeswax was used got me interested. While the process is relatively similar, there are different temperatures at which you should pour the wax and I made the mistake of following the instructions in the how-to, which is wrong. The included manual tells you to pour the wax at 130F, but by the time I did the wax had already started to cool. I was still able to pour it, but it didn't come out as good as it could - you need to pour it at around 150F instead. In addition, the supplied thermometer had a battery, but it was dead. It uses an LR44 battery and since knowing the temperature is so important to making the right candles, sending it with a dead battery was a mistake. Luckily I had another one, but if you're buying this for a friend who doesn't have anything, they might be disappointed. They give you 4 jars and 4 packs of wax. Two sachets of wax will fill 4 jars, giving you 2 extra sachets to do with as you please. I used my own glasses and ice molds (to melt the wax) and other flavors and colors. Speaking of glasses, I got so many compliments on how much they loved glasses — and it's true. I want to buy more plain glasses because I love them so much. Overall I think this is a decent set. It gives you everything you need except a stove and a pot of water to make candles, and even if it doesn't work the first time, it's a learning experience and it'll last a few times anyway.
