Seven Pin Junction Box

I bought this box with other associated components to rewire a horsebox. Good first. There were seven wire bolts in the box, lots of rubber boots and two built in cable connectors which were very helpful in securing the cable to the 7 pin connector I was using. Second, not so good. Seven 10-32 studs were supplied with only one nut per stud. The cleats are mounted in the plastic base of the box and wobbled a bit. I figured it was best to use the factory nuts that come in the box to tighten and secure the cleats. So I went to the hardware store and bought seven 10-32 nuts and washers. I also bought ring terminals for my wires. Blue for 16 and 14 AWG wire and Yellow for 12 AWG wire. Ring terminals provide a nice, clean, professional look and prevent wires from touching and shorting out. So I put a washer on the factory nut, then a ring terminal, and finally a 10-32 nut and tightened it up. You might think the washers were overkill, but I wanted the contact area of my wires to be as large as possible. Finally, the two screws that hold the lid on the box are recessed slightly below the top. So I used a duct seal. It is a grey, clay-like material used by electricians to seal electrical entry components and can withstand any weather, hot or cold. In summary I liked the box but for the asking price I felt eight more nuts and washers could have been added. Ring terminals would give you 6 stars!
