Compatible and not so compatible

I bought 2 of these 4GB memory sticks. These were the recommended flash drives for my laptop, taken from the Crucial website. I installed them and they don't work on my old Dell laptop because it won't boot. I'm not sure if they are buggy or not, I wanted to fix this issue. I pulled some memory from a newer laptop and replaced it. Crucial memory worked well in the newer laptop, but not in the other. So I would exercise caution when buying. If you have a non-working joystick, this could be a compatibility issue.
