These are the only gaiters that don't wrap around the skin. I have a very big beard. When I wear a surgical mask, my beard curls outward due to the moisture in my breath and the pressure of the mask. I don't like the way it looks and it's practically incurable. This mask has a filter pocket or even a completely different surgical mask inside. It also has a drawstring at the top so you can tie it over your nose, and you can wear it high enough that when you put your goggles over your mask, they don't fog up. To be honest I wish I had the same mask in different colors. It's the only thing that doesn't discolor my beard. I will say I have a hard time breathing anything more than a surgical mask, but I suppose that's to be expected from a mask that has a literal pocket within a mask with another mask within that pocket.
