I have a lot of crayons, some sets were quite expensive so I handle them with care. I really wanted a pencil case with separate elasticated slots for each pencil, but those don't exist when you have 200+ pencils. My colored pencils were scattered everywhere in front of this bag: 150 still in the original box, 100 in the smaller pencil case, etc. Now all 326 colored pencils fit neatly into this bag and are well sorted. I just turn the page to find the right shade. The organization alone was worth the price of this bag to me. Each slot holds 3 pins securely, but removing just one pin at a time is easy and no hassle. I see no value in a shoulder strap. My bag is too heavy to carry on one shoulder. Even carrying this bag by the handle, it feels unstable and unreliable. I usually just use both hands underneath when moving it. Yes, it's very heavy when fully loaded and since crayons can break I don't risk it. The zipped compartment on the outside is roomy enough for color charts and a manual sharpener, all very handy. Unfortunately, none of my colorations fit in there. I only have one complaint about this bag. I was hoping the slots would give the sharpened ends of the pencils extra room to keep them from wrinkling and breaking. Despite the large interior, the pencil tips still press too close to the outer edges and sometimes break off. It's not a big problem, but it's annoying. I've tried rearranging the pins with pointed ends inward as if they were facing each other, but that doesn't help. They still occasionally bang against each other and break, and unplugging the pencil takes longer when I use this configuration. This makes the staining process too slow to be of any use. In general, the bag is beautiful and functional. Maybe one day this company will add extra space around the edges for the sharpened pencil tips and make separate slots for each pencil, but until then it's working fine!
