First of all I like how it works. It has two speeds and moves a lot of air at each speed, with the lower speed being quieter. I love how it looks on my desk. It's also lightweight and easy to move. And yes, it's safe to touch the blades with your fingers while they're spinning. This is a nice transition to the biggest problem I had with the fan. As another reviewer pointed out, the SBM1-SI's touch controls are really hard to use. You have to touch it correctly for the controller to register your touch. I've tried practicing to get the "trick" probably 40-50 times and I still don't get the hang of it. For a while I thought that I shouldn't touch the fan itself, just the button, as it could interfere with the controls. No, that is not so. I tried using different fingers, like thumb or pinky. It didn't help either. And while you're at it, if the fan is on, chances are you'll get your fingers caught in the spinning blades, only adding to the frustration. But hey, I like the style and performance enough and it's not expensive so I keep it as a secondary fan and basically just leave it on. If I ever find out what the secret to using touch controls is, I'll update this review with that information. ——- Update: The key to touch control is to hold the outer (silver) part with one hand and just touch the button itself with the finger of the other hand.
