I like that there are many different ways to edit texts as it makes my life easier when working with other programs or when writing scripts for instance. It's very useful to have so many functions and features built-in if you're using this just for simple editing of plain files (texts). The interface can be quite complicated at first but once you get used to how things work, everything becomes much simpler. You don't need any plugins because most of what you want comes standard with the program which helps keep your setup relatively easy (if not straightforward) since no third party software has to be installed to make use of all these options. There isn't anything bad about this product, however sometimes it gets annoying having to go through several steps before being able to perform certain actions. Try watching some tutorials online. Once you've watched one tutorial and understand.
