Review on 🌍 Small Cherrywood Old World Map Trunk/Box by Vintiquewise by Ans Brownlee

The craftsmanship on mine (and maybe it varies from one to another) is pretty good. But the ground is paper thin.

I have to say that I was concerned about the quality of this item when I bought it. For the most part, when I received the box I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and craftsmanship, with a few exceptions regarding the thickness of the materials used in some places to construct the box. First, my skill level (and maybe it varies from one person to another) is pretty good. No sharp staples or nails protrude anywhere, the corners are correctly aligned. My only problem is that the BOTTOM of the box (and also the top, which doesn't bother me much) is made of almost thin wood. While the sides of the box are quite thick (1/3 inch) but very light, the bottom of the box is 1/16 inch thick (!). The top layer is also 1/16 inch thick, but that doesn't matter as much since the weight of the items in the box rests only on the bottom. It makes no sense to use such a light material below, but I intend to reinforce it. by gluing or stapling another layer of wood or cork or whatever I can find at a craft store on the underside. Then it becomes a very fine box, considering that it should also look like the "old world". The description is correct but note the interior is smaller which I think is to be expected. Only maximum external dimensions are given (so look at the base, which is widest - that's actually 9 inches). inside is smaller what i suspected when buying but couldn't tell exactly from the description what i was trying to pack in was too big but i take responsibility for my careless measurements i was just more concerned as the bottom of the box was so thin that it perhaps would be inappropriate to keep this item year after year as I wanted to go out. I'm serious. It's completely intact, but so thin it makes a paper or cardboard sound when tapped. I have to say, though, that I tend to keep it to myself. I guess I could count on it costing around $20. This is a steep price given the quality of some of the materials (mainly related to the thickness of the base, although the clasp is also rated for "light to medium loads"), but it's largely made up for in the build quality and looks. I mean it's 20 dollars. Will it be $15 at Marshalls or some other similar store? Maybe. But I like it and I think it's cute. Hope this helps someone!
