Review on Flash Furniture HERCULES Swivel Adjustable by Jackie Hale

Revainrating 4 out of 5

4 stars in the first two years, 1 star after that! Replace bottle and attachments!

The chair has been pretty good for the first two years I've had (purchased July 2017, this review is June 2020). As an aside, I *immediately* fitted a heavy-duty cylinder (ASIN B00CKRBJTW - $40 back then, they're currently $25 each) rather than using the one that came with it. During that time I weighed between 380 and 485 pounds (top and bottom) due to a foot injury, but it certainly held me up well the whole time. Nevertheless, it does not lose height and simply adapts perfectly. Unfortunately, about 4 months ago other parts of the chair started to fail. One day in January, as usual, I sat back on a phone call and heard a loud bang. I thought the chair broke in half it was so loud but it was one of the bolts that broke in half (as another person said it happened to him). About 2 weeks later there was another loud bang and another bolt near the seat back broke, I fell on my back and the seat back was on the floor. Luckily I caught myself before I fell off the chair as the flat metal brace would have landed right in the middle of my ribs! So if I were to buy this chair again I would immediately replace the included hardware with grade 8 screws like the other reviewer did. I ordered replacement screws from McMaster-Carr. Desired size is 3/8"-16 thread size, 2" long. PN 92316A632 Another thing that failed around the same time was the seat upholstery. While it was great for the first two years or so, now it's completely flat when you sit down and I get tailbone pain either an hour later or when I put a pillow on the chair (which btw 99% of them suck) . ) After about that hour, I have fluid buildup in my feet and lower legs due to circulatory cuts due to the seat cushions not filling the entire seat cushion. Depending on where I put the cushion, I get either two pinch points (front behind the knees and back in front of the tailbone, or two in front where the cushion ends, then a gap to the front of the chair, and another one at the front edge of the chair cushion where my legs now angled and there is a height difference). I recently bought a new chair and was tempted to buy another one and have a good 2 years with it as most other chairs either have similar issues or just seem like complete crap (and TBH, even some reviews say so, they are also shit). Luckily the unit I received had no welding or manufacturing issues, except that the recline never worked, it just instantly drops to the lowest position as soon as you lean forward.
