Review on Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless headphones, silver by Bhavin Patel ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best deals, glad I bought this.

In general, I can say that I have mixed feelings about the purchase. A few years ago I listened to a friend's WH1000XM3 - and so then I experienced a concrete delight, with the same . I don't know. The previous headphones of the series were something conditionally uncompromising - they are compact, they sound interesting, and the noise reduction is not bad. Obviously, in these headphones, a strong emphasis was placed on the filling (8 microphones, Carl!) And this paid off in the form of good noise reduction, transparency and microphone operation, however, folding cups and the recognizable sound of the 1000X line went under the knife. Unfortunately, in 2022 you can’t really listen to them anywhere yet, so I advise you to take it if you like a dryish, close to a monitor feed without an excess of bass or highs. Most likely in this case, even if the sound does not suit you out of the box, you can tweak the equalizer in the application. Separately, I’ll add that I don’t understand why everyone complains so much that black is easily soiled. Yes, it collects prints, but they can be wiped off in 10 seconds with a shirt sleeve, so in my opinion this shortcoming is greatly exaggerated.

Pros
  • Very comfortable fit despite silicone ear pads Good battery The Sony application, although loaded, is still convenient Noise canceling and gun transparency The microphone also pleased
Cons
  • Sound. No, it's not bad, but it's not the same as the XM4. It is drier and monitorier, somewhat reminiscent of the HD450. At the same time, when you put on the headphones for the first time, the feeling that the sound is kind of muffled, “like from a barrel”, does not leave, but over time you get used to it and generally listen with pleasure. LDAC cannot be used in the mode of connecting to two devices at the same time - why? The same Soundcore Q35 can do this, so why are headphones with a price tag three times higher - no ? Maybe later they will add firmware . The sound quality over the wire is autumn and very sad - in a fully pixelated mode, the resistance of the headphones is only 8 ohms, which is why the sound is very loud, booming, details disappear - it is impossible to listen. If you turn on the power of the headphones in wired mode, then the resistance rises to 40 ohms - in this case, you can already listen, but the sound is still worse than via bluetooth, which is not strange. Perhaps the problem is in the bundled wire, which, by the way, does not fall under the cost of the headphones at all - a thin, cheap cable without a braid and a headset. Why is that, you ask? A very strange solution with loose ear pads. That is, yes, they turn around, but not with the speakers out, not in, like most other headphones The case is huge - 1/2 backpack Bobby Hero Small kills. It’s a nitpick, but the Type-C cable in the kit made me laugh (its length is only 10 cm)
