I have been knitting socks for over 25 years and this yarn has made the most beautiful socks I have ever knitted. When I finished the first pair, I ordered more yarn for the next pair. These are not summer socks and are not lightweight socks. I knit them on number 1 needle, they are comfortable, warm and durable socks. Order two balls for a pair of socks; One ball won't make a pair unless you're knitting for a child, but three balls make incredible mid-calf socks for adults. It's not a soft and silky yarn, but it's soft enough for a scarf or hood. Top quality meaning no knots or loose strands or weird uneven thicknesses. Fabulous colors with soft and gradual changes; no sharp lines or streaks from one color to another. Highly recommend for a warm winter hat or cardigan.
