My girls love this ball! They figured out how to play with it the first day I released it for them. It keeps them silent for about half an hour to an hour while they roll it and collect mealworms. About the size of an adult's fist, this ball is made of hard plastic (impervious to chicken attacks!). It has a thick elastic band inside that connects the two halves. You take it apart, put mealworms in it, and then close it again. Smelly work, but very easy. The only thing I did was tape on one end. With both ends open, the girls took out treats for 15-20 minutes. I took a small piece of pretty decorative tape and taped it to one of the ends. Now there is only one hole at one end and they have to work harder and longer to get the treat. By the way, I only have two chickens. Two chickens, 30-60 minutes distraction. If you have more than two chickens I would suggest taking more than one ball.
