This tape adheres very well to smooth or rough surfaces. It's easy to remove, but it will chip the paint off the drywall. It is excellent for concrete, metal, plaster and wood. Super sticky! There is a layer of non-stick paper on one side of the tape. If this tape touches itself it's really stuck and you need to cut that part off. This tape is better than any double sided carpet tape I've ever used. It does not dissolve when heated. I used this tape on my garage wall to put a car door protector on and it's still hanging tight with no sign of letting go. I used double sided carpet tape and it stuck at first but after the summer heat and humidity it loosened and peeled.
