soft almost flat pillow. Minimal loft as it should be for a very young child when you need some support but not enough to move the neck. Still soft and cuddly. Wide enough for comfort. I don't know what the recommendations for children are, so I won't comment on that. The size seems to be standard. I like the stitched edge - holds the filling in place, prevents it from becoming a fluffy pillow but still retains just the right volume. The pillow comes with a soft envelope style pillowcase. No foreign smells, just cleanliness/freshness. Easy to put on, easy to take off. (I don't know why hygroscopicity is listed as an attribute as it means the pillow pulls moisture out of the air. Strange.) Versatile - use it for yourself, for your dog, for your kid. At home, on the go, at school. This is a comfortable pillow to the touch. I use it for my dog's toddler mattress. They, especially my daughter, like to use a pillow and a cozy blanket. Except in the picture where she's lying on the floor. lol I haven't noticed anything negative yet. Will update when I learn something new :)
