I wanted to reuse an SSD from my old iMac that went in the trash. I didn't need an internal drive, but I can always use external spare storage. This unit was significantly cheaper than other alternatives and I love the "no tools" idea, not to mention that I have used StarTech products in the past and have always been satisfied which is why I chose this one. All I had to do was remove the cover, attach the self-adhesive foam padding to the front of the bay, insert the drive and push down the connectors in the case, slide it all the way into the bay and snap the cover open. on the. Plugged it into my new iMac and it showed up in Finder. Open Disk Utility, erase, repartition and you're done! 512 GB of external SSD storage that I can use when I need it on one of my computers. It is bus-powered, so no power adapter or additional cables are required.
