I love these cotton swabs - they are teardrop shaped on one end and pointy on the other. The hard case they come in keeps them organized - the lid doesn't stay closed so plan on using a rubber strap if they don't stay in the box. I use them when I paint with soft pastels. They help to get into bottlenecks on the coloring page. I've also used it with Gamsol pencil solution - the solution breaks down the pencil wax so you can give your pencil color a smoother look. So I dip the pointed tip of a cotton swab into the solution and smooth out the paint. This creates moisture, so be sure to protect the surfaces and any pages left in the book. They also work well for people who color with makeup. Would buy again and recommend for needlework - I have not used any other method.
