I bought this product for my Silverado 1500 so I can always leave my hitch in the receiver because I tow a lot. I live in New England and wanted a weather resistant stainless steel version to prevent winter corrosion issues. After buying this lock I had to buy another one because the lock cylinder was corroded and stuck causing it to break. the key is in. I had to drill out the lock cylinder on both this one and the second one I bought because they each got stuck after about six months. On the plus side, the pin works great when it's not corroded and keeps your hitch from disappearing. This pin in combination with the locking tab ensures that your trailer is also securely attached to the truck. So a word to the wise. If you plan to keep this pin year round, put some lube on the pin itself where it enters the lock and spray a little WD-40 on the lock barrel from time to time. If you don't do this, you might end up drilling lock cylinders like I did, which isn't much fun.
