Perfect solution to getting surround sound audio from an HDTV antenna through a stereo receiver

I dropped cable TV a while ago and now use an HD rabbit ears antenna for pulling in HD over-the-air TV channels. I have a plasma HDTV bought in 2010 (that still works perfectly!) and a Denon AV surround sound stereo receiver that I bought in 2004. This AV receiver has no HDMI ports. just lots of RCA and Composite ports, and an Optical Digital input and output. I had never used the Optical port before and was unfamiliar with it. When I used to have cable TV and had a set-top box, I would run Composite patch cords out of the set-top into the receiver for Dolby Pro Logic surround sound. But after cutting the cord, I lost the ability to get TV sound through my stereo. So I pulled out the owner's manuals for both the TV and receiver and studied all the various TV outputs and receiver inputs. It quickly became obvious that the Optical Digital was my only hope of achieving what I was looking for, since the TV had a Optical Digital output. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it would work, but decided to take a chance. I did some quick online research and decided on this KabelDirekt Optical Digital Audio Cable. It has worked perfectly, delivering amazing, super high-quality audio from my TV. I now have a true home theater set-up again! And it's hard to beleive the HD Dolby surround sound audio pumping through my stereo is all coming from a lowly HD rabbit ears antenna! The optical digital cable itself is extremely high-quality construction. You recognize that immediately when you pull it out of the packaging. It was a couple dollars more than other options, but was well worth it. I continue to be amazed every time I go into home theater mode! I strongly recommend this product.
