They are quite useful as they allow you to hold bulky items. What they DO NOT do (and reason to buy) is they do not keep these items compressed or breathable. I try to deal with large blankets. We followed the instructions and even followed additional recommendations for better performance. It wasn't easy to stuff into a bag, but at first glance it seemed to work great! Huge, fluffy blankets have grown from 2+ feet tall and unwieldy to an easily stackable 5 or 6 inches. Hooray! But by day 3 they had expanded to almost their full size. Another sketchy design issue is a small clip that helps close the bag. It's not built into the bag itself, so it's easy to remove and difficult to put back on. I'll probably throw them out and use pliers (fingers will do, but it's pretty awkward). You can also try using thick tape across the top and a small vacuum hole. I just want them to work as promised. === Update: No, even with a few layers of thick cello tape on top and a vacuum port, my comforters almost go back to normal size in a few days. Damn.
