Review on 🍳 LiveFresh 9-inch Large Stainless Steel Fine Mesh Strainer - Chef's Tool for Commercial and Home Kitchens by Denise Portis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Doesn't hold up in prewash

We bought this colander based on the good reviews but we were disappointed that it didn't prewash at all as we use the colander a lot. It appears to be well made and probably stretches well when placed or held in a large saucepan, but we wanted to replace a very old colander that we've used for years and that also hangs nicely in the kitchen sink. The tiny legs of this screen are distorted by the camera lens in the descriptive image and appear much larger than they really are. They extend no more than 1/8" of the filter housing (see my attached photos) so there is no way to hang the "leg end" of the filter in the sink. Reason for the 3 star rating. It hangs very well over the rim of a large pot of course if you need it, but slightly larger feet would make it suitable for both purposes. Two further observations: the colander, as others have reported, is a very fine colander. For straining berries and similar items that you want to rinse off, the strainer is thin enough that it will catch most of what you want to rinse off. Of course, it's great for straining sauces, where what goes through, mesh is what you want to keep eventually, and it is not very important, the handle and the metal structure under the mesh are not properly attached to the body of the device (see attached photo), obviously this does not affect its use, but it is an unnecessary manufacturing oversight . ved was put together by someone who liked rum punch at work.
