As humanity changed in early 2020, I drove back and forth between North Carolina and Texas. Since all of my work-related workstations and servers were in NC, I lugged a workstation to TX (and back) in a Corsair 5000D case. While this ensured I had the right machine for the job (and managed my displays), when I got my hands on an 8-core TB4 laptop, I decided to reconsider my strategy. Why not just get a docking station and carry your laptop back and forth? That's how I started using the MediaGear Plug and Play Thunderbolt 3 Dock. Unfortunately my experience was not very good. With the docking station, I lose USB about 4 times a day, and I don't have the most consistent HDMI performance through the docking station either. The USB shutdowns are so bad that I had to mount my webcam and headset directly on the laptop because those ports don't turn off. Instead, I sit for 15 seconds waiting for the keyboard and mouse (and sometimes the display) to return. The power to the dock is fine (I checked with an ammeter) and I'm using the same TB cable on another TB dock with no issues. upset.
