Review on Lamaze Freddie The Firefly: A Delightful Interactive Toy for Babies by Dion Jeep

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Girl loves this toy but watch out for manufacturing defects

My girl loved this toy. It was Lamaze's favorite toy. She's had it since she was about 3 months old and it was HUGE compared to her size. She's 6 months old now and it's still quite a big toy when she's in her car seat, but she loves the rustling of her wings and loves to chew on her whiskers and rings (mostly white). She missed the squeaker on the fender and not exactly having the ladybug bite plate, just loves gnawing on the head, wings and white clip. Now I have several complaints about this product. We have already bought two of these. The first one, shortly after I received it, I noticed that it began to tear at the strip of fabric holding the white clip/ring on Freddie's head. I thought it might have been Sophia's eagerness but now I think it was just a faulty stitch. Hand washing is the only way to clean this toy and that's fine, but once you hand wash it you'll find that the white isn't actually that white anymore as I assume they are flexible metal or plastic parts in the wings. - Leave "streaks" of a matte color. Doesn't really matter, I just think it's worth mentioning because Freddie doesn't look that clean even after a bath. Now we've had to make a second purchase because we thought we'd lost Freddie and that's a big deal! So Freddy #2 shows up and as I cut the little plastic tab with the tag to separate it from the box I notice when it comes loose there is a fairly sized hole where the plastic tab was, close to the seam was on Freddy's head. . TAAAAAAA, here we are with Freddy #2, and he's damaged from the start. So I think sewing or sending it back is such a hassle. Also, for some reason we paid about $3 more for Freddie #2, even though they were both purchased from Revain a few months apart. All in all Freddy the Firefly was a wonderful toy for our daughter and I would highly recommend it as others have failed. Lamaze Captain Calamari has been around for as long as Freddie #1 and is only now getting some interest (nominally), Lamaze Tug & Play Knot is having some success in front of her after months of hanging around, and Lamaze Flutterbug is well she's starting to show off a bit too interested when nothing is around. My only suggestion is that when you buy a Freddy, check it carefully for manufacturing defects and if you find any return it because your child will probably love it and you want it to last.
