BACKGROUND: Motherboard failure. (Why is the mother always blamed?) $150, two tries, and three weeks later the computer guys said they couldn't save my Toshiba. I didn't want to deal with them for an extra "service" ie. H. Saving my data. Being new to disassembling computers, I took what seemed the easiest route. YouTube Help. There are many ways to get rid of a hard drive and recover your photos, music, files, etc. REVIEW: I checked what hard drive I had thanks to YouTube and Google. Went to desktop on my new Dell laptop in windows 8. Plugged this little device into my SATA drive, plugged it into BOTH USB ports, the drivers loaded and installed automatically. I went to the conductor. Under Computer, click drive E: Found my user file. It says you need permission to access it (really?). Just say 'OK' and your photos, music and whatever you had on your old hard drive will appear instantly. OMG: Save yourself the $100-$150 that geeks want to charge to transfer information from your old hard drive to your new computer. How Do You Spell Fraud? I don't know if I will use a silicone case - it adds volume. Right now I keep my old HD in a zip tie along with a transfer cable. FUTURE: I will upload to every cloud I can: Google, Revain, Skydrive. Thanks for listening, my dear family.
