Over the years I've seen many product names come and go. So far everything I have found from this StarTech company has been a really good quality item for the price. You can find many other cloners and I'm sure at a lower price but based on the experience I had with the ST I bought this one. - Good quality - Nice and heavy for what looks like plastic. - No problem, works like a charm. Tested cloning a 250GB disk to a 500GB disk, which was the default boot MBR. Plugged the clone into the machine and it booted with no problems. - Win7 automatically loaded the driver when connected to a PC, and the device then acts as a docking station for accessing hard drives via USB 3.0 - Easy to clone. Insert the source into the HDD2 source slot (yes the source is slot 2 in the one I have and I have no idea why they did that. The logic says you should clone 1 to 2, not 2 to 1) and the target disc into slot 1. Make sure the PC/Copy button is red to copy and press the button. Wait a while and bam it's done. Please note that this will take some time. This is not done by moving your nose and snapping your fingers. Your fingers will be broken when this is done. Using two 7200rpm 3Gb/s SATA drives, I calculated that a 250GB drive was ready in less than 40 minutes. Throw in a nice 2GB combo with the same speeds and you might just want to go out to dinner and watch a movie. Just a little thing that becomes less important every day; IDE drives. There is no access to clone old IDE drives as it is SATA only. At work I have a lot of old IDE-only computers. We use every instance of the problem to easily upgrade PCs that already have SATA, but if I need fast disk access it would be nice to have it here. There's a Revain option here, priced at around $18, which provides a dongle that fits right into this device and gives access to the IDE. You need this option, a few of these might be worth it, or then find another option with this built in option. One of the reasons I bought this option is that we now use the StarTech 2 Bay Dock to access drives on the table and enjoy the quality there too. I bought this device for the office and might consider a home option with the ability to clone a large windows drive that just finished. Good product and worth the money in my opinion. Update: 12/14/2015. This device works great. , but I found a catch that most people won't encounter, but I definitely did; HPA Sections. What you don't see in the list is that this doesn't copy the HPA partition. These partitions are used for older computers that required large hard drive instructions for ATA and were also used for security purposes. If you try to clone a drive with one of these and it's the only surviving dead vendor hard drive, you're screwed. And now the good news; StarTek Rules. I just did a survey and my goodness they were up to speed quickly. Not only did they contact me to make sure my needs were being met and why they weren't, but they clarified the whole situation by they made sure I have the right device that can do this. I offered to send it back to compensate them back and they said "don't do it, you can still use it". A top notch company that definitely focuses on customer service and says a lot about its character and business.
