The best thing about this product is that it is easy to install. I thought the base plate that separates the clamp from the attachment mechanism was metal, it's actually plastic. I'm really afraid to tighten the thing as tight as I really want it to avoid breaking the baseplate. It seems that no matter how tight you tighten them, you can still loosen them by firmly pressing your palms together. I really wish everything about them was metal construction. Due to my fear of breaking the baseplate I decided to make my own out of steel and use a piece of felt to insulate the stronger baseplate from the truck body to avoid damaging the paintwork. They look great right out of the box, I just don't like the subtle noises that come from slowly tightening the mounting ring.
