I have about thirty VHS tapes that I want to digitize. I'm using a Mac with about a terabyte of free disk space and a 2.8 GHz processor. Lots of power and resources to capture old videos from VHS tapes. Or so I thought. Immediately after the adjustment, I noticed that my first shot had visible signs of compression (like the little squares you see when you watch very low quality video online). There are three quality options: low, medium and high. That's all! There's no way to adjust compression or audio quality, there are only three settings and the highest still shows incredibly noticeable compression. As if that wasn't enough, the Roxio software can't process the video and keeps dropping frames. I tried lowering the quality setting to medium as a user on the forum suggested that high settings are totally useless and should be considered a defect in the product. Problem. I did a 38 second test recording and my Mac is still idle as Roxio can't handle it at all. As of this writing it is still idle. I would be ashamed if my company name was attached to this product!
