Review on 🌲 Cedarwood Shaving Cream by Taylor of Old Bond, 0.33 lb. by Audrey West

Great shaving cream! Or is it shaving soap?

It must be "cream". I bought 5 jars of Cedarwood Shaving Cream and I love how it smears and smells. But they have an expiration date. The first three were soft - like "icing on the cake", as the manufacturer describes it. It was a pleasure to use. When lathering you have to be careful with the water; It's easy to get the mixture too wet (if you see a lot of bubbles). But you can simply add a little more cream and bring the mixture in the bowl to the desired foam. To me, "just right" is like the texture of yogurt, with spikes. Such is the ease and benefits of the cream! However, I recently ordered 2 tubs within a month as the price dropped from $21 to $16. After opening a new one to use, I found to my dismay that these two were firmer and more cake-like, not creamy like the first couple I ordered. They're obviously a bit dry. I don't like them either, but I didn't return them to the UPS store due to shipping difficulties. Now, after a swim, I think I've learned how to use dryers; Instead of wiping straight into the shaving bowl and then lathering, I now wrap my fingers around the body of the dampened brush to prevent it from bending too much and run the brush over the "semi-soft" cakey bath to soften it up a bit get on the brushes. Then I froth in the bowl. I've found that something I put my fingers in my shaving bowl for the first time breaks into pieces when my fingers take it out of the tub. These "chunks" don't mix with the lather and I end up with hard lumps on my face - a very uncomfortable shaving sensation! Now that I am aware of this "drying out" issue I will be returning any future tubs that are shipped dry. I really like the product and will continue to use it, but the consumer should not mess with chunks or dried product when buying "cream".
