I used this bolt on adapter and filter base from Derale to install an external oil filter on my '99 Mercury Grand Marquis. I bought parts instead of a kit because I wanted to use hydraulic hoses instead of fittings and clamps. The car has driven a thousand miles, no leaks. A little over a liter and a half was added to the system with an 80-inch 1/2-inch hose and a 1-liter filter. The Derale parts worked like a charm. Fit and finish are good. It won't be too hard to polish if you like glitter. The only complaint I have is that the filter base is a bit fiddly to assemble. Holes are difficult to mark. I made my own template using a small hammer and heavy paper as if making a spacer. I would definitely recommend these parts to anyone looking to fit a larger filter in their modular Ford. It will also be less messy to change.
