Other similar products turn off automatically after about 30 minutes. This was unacceptable to me because I leave it hanging on the back of my backpack on night hikes and I need others to be able to identify myself in a sea of white lights from other hikers. This one is good, it doesn't turn off until I turn it off. Also, it doesn't have a switch, it can be turned on and off, which is another plus because I don't have to fiddle around to find the switch.
