Review on CASIO G-Shock Wrist Watch by Felicja Kula ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect purchase for me, exactly what I was looking for!

Almost always on my arm, I only take it off before a shower. Before that, I used A158WE, I also didn’t take it off my hand. That's where the real "workhorse" is! I will say that if they did not look like a children's toy, then the option is similar in function, and in some ways no worse than the DW5600. Maybe not the same "indestructible", but "non-wearable" - that's for sure. Three times cheaper, they are invisible on the hand due to their small thickness, the display is read a little better (because the glass is flush), the battery is seven years old. Although there is no countdown timer, an alarm clock without various options, the backlight is a simple LED, the glass is plastic, water protection is splashproof, but all this is not so critical. Of the minuses, perhaps, is that the bracelet is not very reliable (a month later I put a new one for 300), and the right button often clings and switches the time display mode "12/24". It turns out that I chose the DW5600 only because of the more "adult" design, better water resistance and indestructibility. However, I'm quite happy with the purchase so far.

Pros
  • Design. It's different here, but I like it. Classic! The look hasn't changed much since the 80's. No extra "whistles" from crazy Japanese designers. The size is not too big, but the watch looks representative enough to be called G-Shock. They do not look cheap, neither the plastic case nor the display, although it is completely electronic. Buttons do not cling, do not spontaneously pressed. Water resistance 200m. It seems that I don’t really need this, but at work it happens that you have to twist something right under running water, and in general you want to calmly wash your hands / dishes or not be afraid to get caught in the rain, or accidentally go into the shower with a watch. The glass is not scratched (did not check). A minimum of functions, but at the same time, everything you need is on the display. Nice bright light. LED lighting is much worse if you wake up at night and want to look at the time, you have to strain your eyes and peer. This model with fluorescent backlight does not have this problem.
Cons
  • The top left button is recessed so that pressing it with a finger or even a fingernail is extremely problematic, only with some object. Because of this, it is almost impossible to quickly use the timer (set and reset). The remaining buttons are comfortably pressed only with a fingernail, it may not work with the fingertips if the fingers are thick. The display shows the date in American format "Month - Day". Unusually, but the opposite can not be configured. With such a case size, the numbers showing the time could be a little larger than they actually are. I won’t say that readability is much worse, but the display space is somehow irrationally used. Due to the double glass, the display is not very readable at an angle. Stably in a hurry, about 3-5 seconds per month. Within the stated accuracy, but a little annoying. Since I love accuracy, I have to periodically let down. It is not possible to turn on the backlight and set the clock (for example, when it needs to be done in the dark). The problem is not specific to this model. The battery life warranty is two years. Against the background of seven and even ten years for some models, it is not enough. Despite the fact that there are not much more functions here, I don’t know what this is connected with (except for the “gluttonous” backlight).
