Sometimes I wonder if the reviews are written by people who have tried this product for free. I get a lot of these emails but I consider them spam and don't try to follow the links. In any case, they all seemed stunned that a man had actually invented something like this - which is EXACTLY what they were hoping for! A boring life, if I thought so. And a previous reviewer (or two?) seemed blown away by the free pastry brush. I can basically agree that this is a pastry brush; Although it's just a light, thin stick with thin, flexible pieces of "silicone" threads extending from the end, in a horizontal position it really resembles the pattern of a pastry brush. I wouldn't pay $1 for it at a local store; it's quite tiny (actually the whole purchase seems more ideal to me for smaller people with correspondingly smaller hands and fingers, not people like me - raven-sized ladies.) and the red strings at the end are literally reversed, nothing else loaded with it can't be cleaned for roasts or baked goods. IMHO, disposable, I already have a good enough pastry brush and if not the dollar store has better ones so go ahead. The second one I installed on the last battery (2, included) a loud alarm-like beep started and I couldn't figure out where or how to stop it On the back of the case I saw 2 tiny (flea-sized) sliding "buttons" but nothing else A unit squeaks from it I searched and found with mine Loupe, still couldn't see the printed text well enough Walked over to the lamp where I had to keep the sad screamer close under the shadows, and then Eureka!, plump and accurate the same color as the plastic whore. use. It turns out that one tiny black slider thing is for the on/off switch and the other for the timer/temp sensor. These "buttons" (the term is used loosely) can be uncomfortable for all sorts of "western world" fingers, and I'm sure I won't remember which button does what when it's on the time is to use the squealer while cooking. and which direction should I slide to reach my option. Okay, all said and done, I started running Screecher without the help of a quick guide to see how difficult it is to work without a guide. I only checked the manual once to see how to switch from the default Celsius setting to Fahrenheit. (If we take the batteries out it resets to Celsius every time. Keep it up!) I could see that we only get a temperature choice on 2 proteins - fish, pork, chicken, eggs and for example Just eat 1 for health reasons is the Done option, while beef and veal offer a progressive temperature selection, from Rare to Well Done. We can also enter the temporary temperature manually, but I haven't tried it - I saw this option later when I was looking in the manual for something I missed while trying. The Screecher touch screen consists of several areas at the bottom of the screen that we will press and hold until the desired option appears. Back buttons or shortcuts are not allowed. We need to remember things or keep the manual handy. In conclusion I decided to leave it as it was an open $10 box and I hope like an angel the plastic part on the probe doesn't melt in the oven. I'll definitely update if anything goes wrong. I also do updates when needed to be honest with my reviews. So if it doesn't say UPDATE above, you can know that Screecher at least lived up to its advertised specs. .
