So I bought it mainly because it was about the same price as most non-RBG discs due to the coupon. I wouldn't normally bother with RGB, but I shrugged and thought "why not?" It was a mistake. After a short boot time and switching on this drive, the idle temperature rises to 50 Cยฐ. Now my other Adata M.2 (XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro) stays in standby at 38-40 Cยฐ. Now notice that this is with RGB OFF! When I start doing light tasks, the temperature is 53-58 ยฐC, and when I start playing games, for example, the temperature rises to 60-65 ยฐC. Here, too, RGB is switched off. I could understand these timings if i would play and turn on RGB, but i don't. In the picture above I remove the small plate and the RGB light diffuser. After removing it and using the heat spreader that came with my MSI X570 Ace motherboard, this drive now runs at about the same temperature as my other Adata drive in standby mode. Adata should seriously consider using some sort of thermal pad instead of what they used to glue the diffuser. The drive works great once you remove this. This will be my last RGB drive purchase. I want to be able to cool my drives so they work as they should. If you bought one of these discs and are having the same problem, please uninstall the one shown in the image above. Put the right heatsink on this thing and forget about RGB. Adata should seriously consider using some sort of thermal pad instead of what they used to glue the diffuser.
