I usually let my nails grow out too long before doing anything with them. Not good! They are not easy to cut. Thing is, my clippers were too small and didn't open wide enough, so trimming my toenails was a worrying time. Ha! Now I look forward to when they are long enough to attach! To be clear, you need to be able to see what you're doing and have enough flexibility to use them on your own. I do. But not much stock. I say this because the design, which allows the blades to open very wide, gives you the freedom to cut at dangerous angles. The corners are beveled and quite secure when the blades are closed, but when they are open the corners are really sharp. Simply touching or piercing the skin can easily result in a cut or puncture. Nonetheless, I have no hesitation in giving the product five stars. Certainly there are nails that could not be cut without them. Just be careful, that's all. The stick is really cool. I would like to know what this design is. You can see through it, but there's a very thin piece of metal on one side. This metal has hundreds of microscopic, perfectly round holes. It cuts so precisely that the longitudinal grooves on the nail could really be cut off and it stays so smooth it shines! No, I don't need this function. I just heard that some files can do this, so dear gadgets, I had to try this. A more useful property of the file is that it extends to the edges of a rigid transparent backing. Many files have a thin border around the edge. Just not this one! Last note. I assume these files are sold under many brand names. They are most likely made at the same factory. Mine came with no branding on the clipper, file or drawstring pouch to store them. But so far the quality and accuracy seem very good.
