Review on BLACK DECKER 2 Slice Toaster TR1278RM by Karen Gaiser

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Broke after two years

Many people will like this toaster. I liked the red color and I liked the bagel toast feature. And I liked the toast he made. Ultimately, I can only give it three stars because it broke after two years and three months. The bread stopped staying in place because the cheap electromagnet holding it in place had failed. So its plastic gets recycled and the electronics get sent to electronics recycling and shipped around the world to any country willing to accept it and the rest will end up in landfill. And for what? So that Fortune 500 companies (Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in this case) can continue to make profits by selling the same crappy toasters to people whose previous crappy toaster broke after a year, two, or three. Why can't we buy toasters that can actually be serviced and repaired? Because capitalism doesn't approve of this model, that's why. If our toasters lasted 20 years with occasional maintenance, Stanley Black and Deck, Inc. would go bankrupt and the Dow Jones would be in the toilet. But we would use less steel and oil. Plastic doesn't grow on trees, you know.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Unusable function
