I'm the same size as the wool clothes (38) and it was a struggle to get them the first few times. I wore them around the house for 2 or 3 days to break them in. At first my knuckle hurt and one of my pinky fingers felt like the fabric was scratching it, but now they fit perfectly. I put on moleskin on the back and also bandages on the back of my ankles when I first wore them on a hike. I only drove about 3 km. They looked like slippers. I didn't feel the rocks under my foot and the grip was great.
